Cell in Welfare Island Penitentiary, New York, 1924.

Joliet Branch was constructed of stone quarried at the prison site in
1853-1855. Two cell houses, one with 400 cells and one with 500 cells.
Dimensions of the cells: 7' long by 4.75' wide by 7' high. No toilet facilities,
note the bucket and crockery water container.
